Britney Spears had a "shocking slapfest" with her mother, it has been reported.
The 'Toxic' singer flew into a rage when her mother Lynne arrived at her house uninvited and started attacking Britney's parenting skills last month.

A source told America's Star magazine: "Lynne barged into the house and
insisted on taking the kids out to spend some private time with them. She
didn't ask or suggest, she demanded. Then she began denigrating Britney's
mothering skills and losing her temper at the same time.

"Britney and Lynne had a shocking slapfest. It left Lynne shaken and Britney
more determined than ever to cut her mother out of her life for good."

The physical fight is believed to have taken place just days after Britney
allegedly handed Lynne a legal order banning her from seeing her grandsons,
22-month-old Sean Preston and 10-month-old Jayden James, while she is on
medication.

Lynne is allegedly considering filing a countersuit.

Britney also reportedly gave Lynne an angry poem, in which she claims she
has "no mom".

Lynne is said to be concerned her 25-year-old daughter is suffering from
depression and believes prescribed medication could help her.

The source added: "Despite their problems, Lynne cares deeply for Britney
and wants to find a way to help her. She thinks antidepressant drugs may be
the answer. Lynne feels Britney has severe depression issues, and they are
in large part the cause of her apparent manic behavior and past problems
with alcohol."

Meanwhile Britney will host the opening of a Las Vegas nightclub next month.

The 'Toxic' singer will open the latest branch of LAX nightclubs, whose
investors include Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie's former fiancé DJ
AM.

A LAX representative said yesterday (07/17/07): "Britney Spears will host
the grand opening."

It is not known if the 25-year-old will perform at the launch in Las Vegas'
Luxor Hotel on August 31.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed Britney - who is working on a new album - is
now acting as both her business manager and publicist.

The mother-of-two is still signed to Jive records, but has severed ties with
manager Larry Rudolf, her mother Lynne, and her publicist.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "She is doing all of her own
business now."

Britney was spotted at New York restaurant Aspen yesterday (07.17.07)
"signing contracts" believed to be linked to her appearance at the LAX
opening party.
